Waiting for Giovanni: a dream play*
Dramatis Personae: African American writer JIMMY, who struggles with whether or not to publish his new novel after being told the white homosexual characters at its center might ruin his career. JIMMY’s friends LORRAINE and RICHARD, also Black writers; DAVID, his brother; WILLIAM, his white literary agent; LUC, his white, French lover, whose existence fuels the gossip against the book; and GIOVANNI, white, European, a character in the novel in question.
